1850, Petition of Jas. Hunter & T.G. Harris

February 14, 1850 Petition of James Hunter and Thomas G. Harris who claimed that Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company entered into a contract with them and others in September 1845 to complete the canal to Cumberland. After detailing the work they performed, they requested that the legislature authorized the company to issue additional bonds in order to complete the project without loss to the petitioners. Of note, various documents were attached in support of said petition. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles originally held by the Library of Congress).
