|
|
SEE ALSO 52499, 52610 House No. 6 On January 15, 1825, Jonathan H. Cobb, silk grower and manufacturer of silk cloth, presented a petition for government support of the industry. With an appropriate subsidy, he promised to set up silk reels in each county, provide silk worms and his expertise to county agricultural societies, and would continue his company as a model industry. Connecticut has helped the silk industry in that state, so why not Massachusetts? (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library)
