SEE ALSO 51884,51887,51896, 51899 On January 13, 1827, agents for the Hampshire and Hampden Canal Company submitted a petition claiming a new survey showed a canal could easily be built from the north state line to Brattleboro, Vermont and on to Canada. The information was on its way to the legislators, so the agents wanted to delay a vote until the new survey was in their hands. [Much of the second sheet is a repeat of the first, but the last substantial paragraph is different.] (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
