1841-42, People's Convention. Comm. on Amendments. Report (MS)
|
|
Report of the Committee on Amendments and suitable provisions, submitted at the 1841-42 People's Convention. Of note, this was part of the unsanctioned "Dorr Rebellion," when middle-class residents sought to significantly reduce the property requirements for voting. Led by Thomas Wilson Dorr, this attempt to change the constitution and a subsequent armed rebellion were unsuccessful, but they ultimately led to a new constitution which liberalized voting rights. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of a title originally held by Department of State in Providence, Rhode Island).
