1841-42, People's Convention. Comm. on Rights (MS)
1841-42 Report of the committee of the People's Constitution Convention on the subject of the declaration of rights and principles, in manuscript.
Of note, this was part of the unsanctioned "Dorr Rebellion," when middle-class residents sought to significantly reduce the property requirements for
voting. Led by Thomas Wilson Dorr, this attempt to change the constitution and a subsequent armed rebellion were unsuccessful, but they ultimately led
to a new constitution which liberalized voting rights. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of a title originally held by Department of State in
Providence, Rhode Island).
