By the Honorable Stephen Hopkins, Esq ; governor, captain general and commander in chief, in and over the British colony of Rhode-Island, and Providence Plantations ... A proclamation : the burthens and calamities of a cruel and expensive war, having been happily terminated by a just and glorious peace, the King hath judged it proper, that a public thanksgiving to Almighty God, should be observed throughout all his colonies in America ... Thursday the twenty-fifth day of the present month ... Given under my hand and seal at arms, at Providence, the eighth day of August ... 1763.
