Proclamation : It being the indispensible duty of all nations, not only to offer up their supplications to Almighty God ... but also ... to give Him praise ... Therefore the United States in Congress assembled ... do hereby recommend ... Thursday the twenty-eighth of November next, as a day of solemn thanksgiving ... Done in Congress at Philadelphia, the eleventh day of October ... one thousand seven hundred and eighty two ...
