1735-03-24, Affidavit in van Dam v. Alexander
Affidavit of James Alexander dated March 24, 1735 (old style); 1736 (new style) in New York. The affidavit, in the case of Van Dam v. Alexander,
denied that Alexander advised or consented to George Clarke's appointment as the interim governor of New York. Of note, the underlying issue was a
result of a political fight between Loyalist Gov. Cosby, and after his death, George Clarke, and liberal Rip Van Dam. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of
title originally held by the New York Historical Society Library).
