|
|
June 13, 1741 act of the New York General Assembly that established steps to better fortify the colony of New York, as well as other provisions within the act. Included were sections that provided funds to rebuild building that were destroyed in a fire in Fort George, New York City, as well as funds to various members of the Six Nations who needed additional provisions. Of note, John (Johannes) Roosevelt was mentioned in rebuilding parts of Fort George; he was the 3 times great-grandfather of United States President Theodore Roosevelt and the 4 times great-grandfather of Eleanor Roosevelt.
