and the mines, and census and statistics of the United States. Sketches of progress during the past century in arts, manufactures, literature,
education, inventions, railroad facilities and steam navigation, etc. and articles on the press, the government and laws, and other matters of interest to
both citizens and visitors from foreign countries. A General descriptive and statical account of the business of the United States at the present time
