(At the time of this edition Sohm was Professor of German Law and Ecclesiastical Law at the University of Leipzig. Grueber was Professor of Roman Law and Jurisprudence at the University of Munich, and had served previously as Deputy Regius Professor of Civil Lawand and Reader in Roman Law at the University of Oxford.)
