Clemency review file containing personnel, procedural letters, recommendations, etc. of John Geter: November 1, 1924, 23 p., typed and handwritten,
November 1, 1924. (The clemency review file of John Geter, a Corporal who served in Company I of the 24th infantry, and was convicted of disobeying
orders, mutiny, murder, and assault to murder in connection with the race riots in Houston, Texas on August 23, 1917. He was found guilty as charged and
sentenced to be dishonorably discharged and hung. The file includes a handwritten letter from Geter to the U.S. Adjutant General pleading his case and
a summary of the case. In April 1924 the Clemency Board recommended that as much of his sentence to confinement that exceeds eighteen years and six
months be remitted, and in October 1924 he was granted parole.)
