was charged with disobeying an order, joining in a mutiny, murder, and assault with intent to kill for his role in the race riots in Houston, Texas
on August 23, 1917. He was sentenced to a dishonorable discharge, with total forfeitures, and confined to hard labor for 2 years. In view of the
gravity of the offenses committed, the Acting Judge Advocate General did not recommend clemency. Manuscript note at the top of page 1 reads: Released from
confinement on Nov. 1, 1919 per expiration of sentence.)
