Proceedings of the Royal Colonial Institute: Vol. 1–40, 1869–1909, all publ. (The Royal Colonial Institute began its existence as the Royal Colonial Society; a name soon changed to avoid confusion with the initials of the Royal College of Surgeons. In addition to much extraneous matter, these proceedings contain numerous background papers on the various British colonial dependencies, many touching on constitutional and/or legal matters. These papers, usually substantial commentaries by authorities with field experience, some of them colonial heavy hitters, provide invaluable and often sole-source background information for the jurisdictions in question. LLMC will be scanning some of these papers separately and offering them as separate titles within various of its online collections. The Proceedings of the Royal Colonial Institute were followed by the Royal Colonial Institute Journal, Vol. 1–, 1910–.)
