(A letter by John Jeremie, former Chief Justice of Saint Lucia and Governor of Sierra Leone, to T. Fowell Buxton, English member of Parliament in which the author makes a case for freeing all negroes. The issue of slavery was a subject that Jeremie was associated with throughout his life. He wrote four essays on Colonial Slavery pointing out the problems of slave communities and the improvements made in their conditions while he served as Chief Justice of Saint Lucia.)
