Despatch from the Secretary of State for the Colonies to the colonial governments regarding certain aspects of colonial policy in war-time; 5th June, 1941: n.a., Cmnd. 6299, London, HMSO, 1941. (The despatch is signed “Moyne”; i.e. by Walter Edward Guinness, who was raised to the peerage as the First Baron Moyne in 1932, and occupied the posts of Minister of Agriculture, Colonial Secretary, Leader of the House of Lords, and finally Minister of State and British Government representative in Cairo. While serving in the latter post he was murdered by Stern gang terrorists on 6 November 1944. The leader of the Stern Gang at the time was Yitzhak Shamir, who later became Prime Minister of Israel.)
