"Observations on the Ameliorated Condition of the Negroes in British West India Colonies (No. VI)," which was published in 1817 in London. Volume VI was part of a series of seven volumes published under the title “Antidote to West-Indian sketches” dealing with slavery in the British West Indies. This was a response to the proclamations of the African institution calling for the abolition of slavery. Other volumes in the series include No.I: Condition of the slaves in the British colonies, No. II: A short account of the African Institution, No. III: The actual condition of the Negroes in the British West India colonies, No. IV: Slavery, No.V: An illustration of the principles of the African Institution, and No. VII: Observations on the necessity of a total change in the system of management of the African institution.
