The 1938 revised edition of the Legislative Enactments of Ceylon, prepared under the authority of the Revised Edition of the Legislative Enactments
Ordinance by Hema Henry Basnayake. Title and Chapter arrangement is used, with
each title containing ordinances dealing with the same kind of
subject. In the margin at the commencement of each ordinance is a reference to its original
number and year of enactment and a similar reference to each
amending ordinance, while each section amended since January 1, 1924, has a reference to the section and ordinance effecting the amendment. There are
seven volumes, the seventh which is an index of the prior volumes. In addition, there is a three volume 1940 Supplement covering the period from June
1938 - January 1940. There is also an index at the end of this supplement
