handbook was one of the series prepared by the Foreign Area Studies (FAS) at American University in Washington, D.C. The foreword indicated that the
handbook was designed for military and other personnel in order to learn basic information regarding the social, economic, political, and military
institutions and practices, as well as some probable changes that might occur in the future.
