Regulations of April 20, 1908. Re-Promulgated June 20, 1908, and Subsequent Amendments (Revised to May 1, 1912). Governing Leasing of Lands and
Removal of Restrictions of Members of the Five Civilized Tribes. Prescribed by the Secretary of the Interior for the Purpose of Carrying Into Effect the
Provisions of the Agreements with the Creek and Cherokee Nations and the Acts of Congress Approved April 26, 1906 (24 Stat. L. 137) and May 27, 1908 (35
Stat. L. 312). 36 p. The Leasing Regulations (pp. 3-20) begin with this statement: “To Carry out the provisions of existing law as quoted herein the
following regulations governing the leasing of lands of members of the Five Civilized Tribes are hereby prescribed. All former regulations for this
purpose are replaced and superseded by these regulations.” Sections address these topics: Oil and Gas and Other Mineral Leases; Agricultural and Grazing
Leases (issued April 20, 1908. Another group of Regulations (pp. 21-29) begins, “The following regulations are hereby prescribed for the purpose of
carrying into effect those provisions of the Act of Congress approved May 27, 1908 (Public Law 140), quoted herein.” Sections address District Agents,
Leasing, and Agricultural, Grazing and Other Leases Other than Mineral (issued June 20, 1908). At pp. 30-36, there is a Notice to Parties Holding
Mineral Leases, Approved by the Department, on Lands from Which the Restrictions Have Been Removed (August 12, 1908) and a series of Amendments of
regulations dated 1909-1912.
