1838-01-15, Treaty with New York Indians
Treaty with the New York Indians, as Amended by the Senate of the United States and assented to by the several Tribes, 1838, January 15, 1838, 7
Stat. 550-564. (Treaty with the New York Indians as amended by the Senate in which the Indians cede and relinquish all rights to the land they received by
the Menomonie Treaty of 1831, 7 Stat. 342 (LLMC 69902). As consideration the United States agreed to set apart a tract of land directly west of the
State of Missouri as a permanent home for all the New York Indians residing in the State of New York or Wisconsin or elsewhere who have no permanent
home. There are special provisions for the St. Regis, the Senecas, the Cayugas, Oneidas, and the Tuscaroras Tribes. The original treaty was concluded at
Buffalo Creek in the State of New York on January 15, 1838. Supplemental Articles concluded between February 13, 1838 and October 9, 1838 appear on
pages 561-564.)
