Articles of a Treaty between the United States and the Swan-Creek and Black-River Bands of the Chippewa Nation residing within the limits of
Michigan, May 9, 1836, 7 Stat. 503-504. (Articles of a Treaty between the United States and the Swan-Creek and Black-River Bands of the Chippewa Nation
residing within the limits of Michigan in which the Indians cede tracts of land described in Article I. The proceeds of the sale after deducting the cost of
the survey and other expenses attending the treaty will be deposited in a special account. The U.S. will advance to the Indians $2,500 and goods
valued at $4,000. The Indians were also to receive 8,320 acres of land west of the Mississippi River. The treaty was concluded at Washington, D.C. on May
9, 1836.)
