1837-09-29, Mdewakanton Band of Dakota or Sioux Tribe - U.S.
Articles of a Treaty between the United States and the Sioux Nation of Indians, September 29, 1837, 7 Stat. 538-540. ( Articles of a Treaty between
the United States and the Sioux Nation of Indians in which they cede to the U.S. all their land east of the Mississippi River. In consideration the
U.S. agreed to invest $300,000 in State stocks and to pay the Sioux Nation annually forever income of not less that 5% from that investment. The Sioux
Nation is also to receive $6,000 in goods. The treaty was concluded at the City of Washington on September 29, 1837. The only named tribe to sign the
treaty was the Medawakanton Band of Santee Sioux)
