Winnebago Indians. March 1, 1839, referred to the Committee on Indian Affairs. 112 p. This document includes the cover letter (February 28, 1839)
signed by J. R. Poinsett, in response to the House resolution calling for a statement of proceedings of the Department regarding “the execution of the
first and second provisions of the fourth article of the treaty … with the Winnebago Indians.” The document and the Appendix consist of correspondence,
interrogatories and answers thereto, testimony and tabular data.
