Articles of a Treaty between the United States of America and the Stockbridge and Munsee Tribes of Indians, who reside upon Lake Winnebago in the
territory of Wisconsin, September 3, 1839, 7 Stat. 580-582. ( Articles of a Treaty between the United States of America and the Stockbridge and Munsee
Tribes of Indians, who reside upon Lake Winnebago in the territory of Wisconsin in which the Indians cede the land described in Article 1. The United
States agreed to pay one dollar per acre for the land. The Indians emigrating were to receive $8,767.75 as full compensation for their interest in the
land held by any party who remains. The balance of the consideration money, amounting to $10,392.95, is to be invested for the Stockbridge and Munsee
Tribes of Indians who remain on the east side of Winnebago Lake. The treaty was concluded at Stockbridge in the Territory of Wisconsin on September 3,
1839.)
