Articles of a Treaty between the United States and the Chippewa Nation of Indians. July 29, 1837, 7 Stat. 536-538. ( Articles of a Treaty between the
United States and the Chippewa Nation of Indians in which they cede to the U.S. the land described in Article 1. In consideration the United States
agreed to pay the Chippewas $9,500 in money, $9,000 dollars worth of goods, $2,000 in provisions, and $500 in tobacco. The Indians are granted the
privilege of hunting, fishing, and gathering rice on the land at the pleasure of the President. The treaty was concluded at St. Peters in the Territory of
Wisconsin on July 29, 1837.)
