Articles of a Treaty between the United States and the Miami Tribe of Indians, November 28, 1840, 7 Stat. 582-586. ( Articles of a Treaty between the
United States and the Miami Tribe of Indians. The Indians ceded to the United States a tract of land on the south side of the Wabash River commonly
known as "the residue of the Big Reserve." The United States agreed to pay the Miami Tribe of Indians $550,000. $250,000 after the ratification of the
treaty, and $300,000 in twenty equal yearly installments. The Miami Tribe agreed to move to the country assigned to them west of the Mississippi
within five years. The Senate ratified the treaty on February 25, 1841 with amendments to Article 2, Article 7, and Article 9. The amendments appear at 7
Stat. 585. The treaty was concluded at the Forks of the Wabash in the State of Indiana on November 28, 1840.)
Title:   Articles of a Treaty made and concluded at the Forks of the Wabash, in the State of Indiana : this twenty-eighth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty, between Samuel Milroy and Allen Hamilton, acting (unofficially) as commissioners on the part of the United States, and the chiefs, warrriers and headmen of the Miami tribe of Indians.
