Treaty between the United States and the Peoria, Kaskaskia, Mitchigamia, Cahokia, and Tamarois, Tribes of the Illinois Nation of Indians. Sepetember
25, 1818, 7 Stat. 181-183. ( Treaty in which the Peoria, Kaskaskia, Mitchigamia, Cahokia, and Tamarois Tribes cede the land specified in Article 1
and confirm the stipulations made in the Treaty of Vincennes, 7 Stat. 78 (LLMC 69777). The tribes party to this agreement were taken under the
protection of the United States. The Peoria Tribe agreed not to make war without the consent of the United States and were given $2,000 worth of merchandise.
They were also promised an annuity of $300 for twelve years in money, merchandise, or domestic animals and were given 240 acres of land in the
Missouri Territory. The treaty was concluded at Edwardsville in the Illinois Territory on September 25, 1818.)
Title:   A Treaty made and concluded by, and between, Ninian Edwards and Auguste Chouteau, Commissioners on the part and behalf of the United States of America, of the one part, and the undersigned, principal chiefs and warriors of the Peoria, Kaskaskia, Mitchigamia, Cahokia, and Tamarois, tribes of the Illinois nation of Indians, on the part and behalf of the said tribes, of the other part.
