1733-06-09, Minutes of what pass'd between the Proprietor & the Delaware Indians (MS)
|
|
Minutes of a meeting between the Delaware Indians and the Proprietor on June 9, 1733. The tribe wanted to keep the present treaty in place which had successfully kept the peace. The Proprietor agreed to that. The Delaware than asked for free passage on the ferry and the Proprietor agreed to that also. The Delaware presented several animal skins as a gesture of good will. After the formal meeting, they also mentioned an assault on one of their number that they thought was out of proportion to the crime committed. The names of the Delaware were listed. (Digitized from a microfilm copy held at the Pennsylvania State Historical Society)
