|
|
A tract on duelling wherein the opinions of some of the most celebrated writers on crown law are examined and corrected, Either by the Authority of the same Writers, declared in contradictory; Sentiments on the same Subject collated from other Parts of their Works, Or, by the solemn Decisions of more ancient Writers of (at least) equal Authority; in order to ascertain the due distinction between manslaughter and murder: by Granville Sharp, 3rd ed., xix+80+73-75p., Printed for B.White and Son, 1790. (This title is an expanded and reworked version of the author’s Remarks on the opinions of some of the most celebrated writers on Crown Law, respecting the due distinction between manslaughter and murder published in 1773. Sharp's vehement opposition to the practice of duelling was eventually overshadowed by his opposition to the slave trade and his campaign for American representation in Parliament. A table of cases and authorities cited in the text begins on p.73.)
