Observations on the criminal law of England, as it relates to capital punishments: and on the mode in which it is administered: by Samuel Romilly, 107p., 3rd ed., London, Printed by J. M’Creery for T. Cadell and W. Davies, 1813. (The content is taken from a speech delivered in the House of Commons on Feb. 9, 1810 during an attempt to repeal two acts which made it a capital crime to steal goods worth five shillings from a shop or property worth forty shillings from a house. In the autumn of 1810 bills were brought before the House of Commons to repeal the two statutes. The bills passed the House of Commons but were rejected by the House of Lords.)
