A message from the Governor to the Assembly, 28 July 1755. In the present emergency, the Governor suggested a signing bonus for recruits of acres of land west of the Alleghenies with quit rent waived for fifteen years and patented without fees. There was a list of acres per rank, with a colonel entitled to 1,000 acres and a common soldier to 200 acres. (Digitized from a microfilm copy held at the Pennsylvania State Historical Society)
