Letter from Conrad Weiser to Governor Morris, December 22, 1755. As in interpreter of many years experience, Weiser set out on December 16 to make
contact with any Indians he could find. At Harris Ferry, he found two old Indians, so he held council with them to ask about who and why had caused so
much bloodshed. While they considered their reply, Weiser arranged for his message to be carried to other places on the Susquehanna. The next day,
the two Indians said the French had convinced the Delaware to cooperate with them and attack the settlers. The Six Nations Indians fled north to
avoid being killed by the English troops they were sure would come to the area. In a long post script, Weiser described the capture of an enemy Indian
who was willing to talk, but he was killed before he could provide any information. (Digitized from a microfilm copy held at the Pennsylvania State
