The two versions had the same text; some parts of one were easier to read than the other. Wrapper: 22 Aug 1755 Copy Scariuady's speech to the
Governor and Council. The chief castigated Braddock, who had treated them poorly and refused to take advice. The colonies should not give up--there
were enough of them and their Native American allies to beat the French. Don't bother with the English soldiers, they were not fit to fight in the
woods. If the local English would just exert themselves, the French would be defeated. The chief was on his way to see the Delawares and Nanticokes, who
were willing to take up the hatchet, so he could call them to arms. Interpreted by Conrad Weiser in the presence of four others. (Digitized from a
