1750-05-29, Message from the Twightwees delivered by Mr. Hugh Crawford (MS)
A message from the Twightwees delivered by Mr. Hugh Crawford, 19 May 1750. The Four Miami Nations asked Crawford to let the Governor know that last
July about two hundred Frenchmen and thirty-five French Indians came to a conference, trying to persuade the Nations to come to French towns by fair
means or foul. However, the Nations said, "No," and had enough men present to intimidate the French. The French called the Nations foolish for
staying with the English. They also brought presents, but the Miami refused them. The Nations asked for a reply via Crawford. (Digitized from a
microfilm copy held at the Pennsylvania State Historical Society)
