1751-08-17, Colden. Letter to Dr. Mitchel providing examples of the state of Indian affairs (MS)

SEE ALSO 56653 Letter to Dr. Mitchell from Cadwallader Colden, August 17, 1751. Colden said his analysis for the Governor had run long, so he had not included examples of wrongs done to the Indians. He sent an example of egregious cheating in trading, another dreadful land grab, and the actual ill-treatment of a young boy. He said these were three out of thousands. Colden worked in the Provincial Office of the Land Surveyor and said dishonest interpreters sometimes made his work difficult.
