Joint Special Comm. of Investigations into Alleged Frauds in Enlistments. Report, 1866
|
|
Forty-fifth Legislature. Senate. No. 35. A Joint Special Committee was told to investigate fraud in enlistments of soldiers for the recent war. The Committee put a notice of its meeting in all the state papers and examined all the witnesses who appeared. It looked at numerous documents and was unable to find fraud at any level of government. The report said the written witness statements were appended to the report, but they were not present here. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Maine Historical Society Library, the Maine State Library, and the Library of Congress).
