|
|
Forty-fifth Legislature. House. No. 16. The Committee on Agriculture presented: An Act to regulate the measure, sale, and inspection of milk, 1866. Cities and towns were to appoint one or more persons to inspect the milk sold in their areas. Inspectors were to visit sale areas and milk carriers, taking samples of the milk, if necessary. Vessels used for either wholesale or retail trade were to be measured and marked for quantity and had a seal applied. All vendors needed to have all containers, including trucks, clearly marked with the business' name. There was a list of fines for adulterating or selling bad milk.
Forty-fifth Legislature. House. No. 37. This version had the same title. Section 1 referred specifically to wholesale milk sales, but other differences were not readily apparent. Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Maine Historical Society Library, the Maine State Library, and the Library of Congress).
