AALL Conference – LLMC notes of interest

While we all wish we were together in New Orleans, kudos to the AALL Conference organizers to have pivoted so effectively in order to offer such valuable, virtual programs!

In today’s KnowItAALL: Your Daily Connection to the News You Need / 7.16.2020 there is a terrific FCIL-SIS article by Anne Burnett and Heather Casey entitled, African Law Librarians and Legal Information Professionals Launch Official Association.  Note that Joseph Hinger, LLMC Assistant Director of Global Technical Initiatives, was a keynote speaker covering the timely topic of key trends in law librarianship.  In addition, LLMC was a sponsor of the event and Joe shared that LLMC Digital continues to expand its African Collection:  new Memo of Understanding with AfricanLII and Laws.Africa; South Africa gazette as well as other content.  Finally, Joe showed the group their new MARC Authority Record for AfLLIP!

Effective Monday, July 20 (program starting from 8-9am) please take the opportunity to watch the recorded presentation  Unearthing the Early State Records Collection by Kurt Meyer, LLMC Assistant Director of Global Content Development & Preservation,  and Dr. Richard Amelung, Professor Emeritus of Legal Research, Vincent C. Immel Law Library, Saint Louis University School of Law and LLMC’s Chairman of the Board of Directors.  It promises to be fascinating as they review progress on a collection that continues to be one of the top two most heavily used on LLMC Digital!
