The Statutes at Large: From Magna Charta, To the End of the Fifth and Concluding Session of the Eighteenth and Last Parliament of Great Britain, held in the Forty-First Year of the Reign of King George the Third. Printed in Eighteen Volumes (London 1763-1800). This set contains text of Public and Private Statutes from 1215 to 1800. Volumes 1-5 are dated 1763; volumes 6-8, 1764; and volumes 9-18, 1765-1800. The first nine volumes were edited by Owen Ruffhead, to 1769. Ruffhead edition continued to 1800. Printers to the King vary: volumes 1-9 by Mark Basket, Henry Woodfall, and William Strahan; volumes 10-14 by Charles Eyre, Strahan and Woodfall; volumes 15-16 by Eyre, Andrew Strahan and Woodfall; and volumes 17-18 by Eyre and Andrew Strahan. Volumes include an Index and Table of Public and Private Statutes for the volume. Notes in the margins provide citations to the original statute. Volume 1 includes a table of statues organized by monarch to the end of the reign of Henry VI. Some volumes have general cover page in addition to title page. Volume 1 contains a Preface by the editor, Owen Ruffhead. Volume 9 includes a note from the Editor to the Reader, by Ruffhead; a Table listing statutes under alphabetical headings; and an Appendix containing Obsolete and Curious Acts, some of which were not previously printed.
