Description and Holding Information
1777, Bill for establishing the Constitution of S. Carolina
Bill for the establishing of the Constitution of the State of South Carolina published in 1777 in Charleston, South Carolina. Of note the preamble
indicated that the March 1776 constitution was only temporary and responsive to the situation at that time. Of note, section 27 of this version
allowed the free exercise of any Christian religion, and so recognized the Christian faith as the established religion. See LLMC # 21120 and 21160 for
related documents. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library of Congress).
