Board of Public Works. Special report on North Fork of Licking Feeder, 1841
Doc. No. 22 Special report of the Board of Public Works [Ohio] in answer to a resolution of the Senate relative to the North Fork of the Licking
Feeder. Senate, December 22, 1841. The Senate wanted to know why water was drawn off the North Fork. The Commissioner in charge of the Ohio Canal
responded. He said there were conflicting claimants for the use of the water. The Supreme Court had ruled against a mill owner, but that owner
continued to draw water. The Commissioner tried to set up the diversion gates so everyone would get their share, which temporarily stopped the flow, but it
would soon be restored. Depositions and the Supreme Court opinion were included. The last page was a map of the contested area.
