Doc. No. 63 Special report of the Commissioners of the Ohio Canal Fund, in reply to a resolution of the House asking for information relative to
said Commissioners going to Europe to sell state stocks. January 22, 1840. Mr. MacCracken left in late July for London. The attempts to sell the
stocks in the United States had been fruitless. It took a month to get to London and then he had to wait for several weeks to finally make an
arrangement with Baring Bros. He arrived back in the United States in late November, spending $766 on the trip.
