Document No. 30 Report of the Board of Public Works in relation to the rate of tolls charges on the National Road. The Board reported on December
21, 1839. There were charges for animals driven along the road, e.g., every score of cattle was charged 25c, then by how many animals pulled several
categories of conveyance, by wheel width, and combinations thereof--twenty-five categories in all.
