Steubenville, Cadiz and Cambridge McAdamized Road Company. Annual report, <1840>-
**Doc. No. 39 Annual report of the Steubenville, Cadiz, and Cambridge McAdamized Road Co. House January 9, 1841. The information was as of
November 15, 1840. The financials came first and it appeared the company was in good shape The completed road would be 65 miles long to connect to the
National Road. About one third was graded and many more miles would be done during the construction season. Bridges and culverts had been constructed
as needed. **Doc. No. 19 Annual report of the state and condition of the Steubenville, Cadiz, and Cambridge McAdamized Road Company on the 15th of
November, 1841. The financials indicated the company was in the black. The grading was not quite completed, with five miles left to put under
contract. The Company expected to finish grading by July 4, 1842 with the terminus at Cambridge, Ohio to connect with the National Road. **Doc. no. 21
Same title as last year, with information as of November 15, 1842. On paper, the company was in the black, but suspension of state payments meant
disappointment for the company and its contractors. If the state could resume payments, everyone could be paid off. Grading and bridging was completed
except for one bridge, so toll booths could go up and the road could be opened. McAdamizing would have to wait until the economy improved. **Doc. No.
44 Report of the Steubenville, Cadiz, and Cambridge McAdamized Road Company. The information was as of November 15, 1843. Much of the contractor
debt had been paid. Toll gates were not in place. The company thought local jurisdictions should repair the road as necessary. **Doc. No. 40 Annual
report of the Steubenville, Cadiz, and Cambridge McAdamized Road Company. The information was as of November 15, 1844. The state had not resumed
payments, so no work had been done on the road. Jefferson County wanted to build the missing bridge if it could have title to the right of way. The
Company was willing to relinquish it, but the Legislature had to allow it.
