**Doc. No. 27 Report of the Circleville and Washington Turnpike Company. The data was as of November 15, 1840, submitted on December 28, 1840. Sixteen and 8/10 miles were under contract, with completion expected in the summer of 1841. The road was designed to connect other roads, creating a good road from Zanesville to Cincinnati.
**Doc. No. 17 Annual report of the Circleville and Washington Turnpike Company. [The data was as of November 15, 1841], submitted on December 23, 1841. Thirty-three miles were under contract, twenty-eight were finished. Twenty-three miles was under a metalling contract, of which twelve miles were done, so that section will collect toll.
**Doc. No. 22 Annaul report of the Circleville and Washington Turnpike Company. [The data was as of November 15, 1842], submitted on December 16, 1842. About $149,000 had been spent on the road and the Company owed contractors $21,000. Thirty-two miles were under contract, with thirty miles completed and twenty-three and a half metalled. The Company took in $265.00 in tolls and would toll several more miles in a few weeks.
**Doc. No. 51 Report of the Directors of the Circleville and Washington Turnpike Company for the year 1843. The entire road was 32.3 miles long. Most of the road may have been McAdamized. The Company took in $1,041 in tolls, but had to spend $1,400 on repairs because of high water.
**Doc. No. 53 Report of the Circleville and Washington Turnpike Company. [The data was as of November 15, 1844], submitted on December 28, 1844. The Company began work on one and a half miles of road to connect with the Goshen, Wilmington, and Columbus Turnpike. It took in $2232 in tolls, but spent $2555 on repairs.
