1840, Communication on Ohio canal lands

Doc. No. 70 Communication from the Governor in relation to the Ohio Canal lands, in answer to a resolution of the House of Representatives. The
Governor responded on January 27, 1840. He did not know how much land had been granted for the Miami Canal, but the grant for the Wabash--Erie Canal
was more than 231,000 acres. When Ohio sold land, the proceeds had to go to the Canal fund; any interest earned had to go to the school fund.
