January 1, 1827 Memorial of A.D. Murphey regarding his collection of materials and plan for a history of North Carolina. In order to pay for this,
he then solicited patronage of $15,000 by lottery; however he could not find a broker for the lottery, given its low value. Murphey then requested
patronage of the General Assembly, after a brief discussion of some of his collection. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the
