1861 transmittal by Governor John W. Ellis to the General Assembly of a Georgia ordinance and resolutions, as well as resolutions from Tennessee.
Georgia proclaimed its secession from the United States, and invited other slave-holding states to similarly hold conventions. Tennessee resolved to
defend itself, along with all Southern states, against any armed forces from New York (under the direction of the United States). (Digitized from a
