1862, Graham. Speech in Conv., Dec. 7, 1861
Speech of William A Graham of Orange Court given on December 7, 1861, on the issue concerning test oaths and sedition. The speech, published in
Raleigh in 1862, was against the use of a test oath, characterizing it as the "antiquated instruments of oppression and despotism," and for the indefinite
postponement of the topic by the convention. He also indicated that there was no need for the proposed sedition ordinances; a copy of same presented
by the committee charged with considering these topicswas attached in the appendix. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of titles originally held by
the University of North Carolina Library at Chapel Hill).
